Why opt for liposuction in Ukraine?

  • Troublesome fat can be banished simply by spending a weekend in Kiev.
  • The cost of liposuction in Ukraine is 70-80% cheaper than in the UK.
  • A surgeon with more than 20 years experience will create a new body form.
  • The doctor and surgery clinic personnel speak English.
  • Post-operative period is short – you are able to return to work immediately after the weekend.
  • Overseas Medical will take care of all personal arrangements.

What is liposuction?

Liposuction is a surgical procedure consisting of extracting fat by suction from under the skin in various parts of the body (neck, chest, knees, stomach, thighs, buttocks, back). The other terms for liposuction are liposculpture, lipoplasty, suction lipectomy.

The introduction of ultrasonic liposuction has many advantages for those who wish to gain a slimmer and fitter looking figure quickly. Nowadays, to lose weight in a short period of time has become as accessible as to pass a massage course! Previously, liposuction was only performed surgically and was a relatively painful operation. However, today’s methods of fat removal in problem areas consist of plastic surgeons utilising ultrasound. Ultrasonic liposuction (lipoaspiration) is methodically used to remove local accumulations of fat from any part of the body to create a stunning silhouette. It is a method that quickly realizes the dream of a flat stomach, slim waist or shapely legs. The procedure is painless and harmless.

Ideal candidates for ultrasound liposuction

The procedure for ultrasonic liposuction is suitable for people with firm and flexible skin. There is a high probability that surgeons would not recommend this procedure for the elderly. Weight loss is the predominant reason for this surgical procedure. It is worth noting that it is not a treatment for the removal of cellulite or for obese patients. A good state of health is predicted, together with realistic expectations of liposuction surgery. First on the agenda would be for the patient to notify their GP of their plans. It is highly unlikely that liposuction plastic surgery would be covered under the National Health System.

Searching for a liposuction clinic

In private UK clinics, undergoing liposuction treatment would cost on average £3800 in London, per area. To continue with most patients’ wishes of being treated by an experienced plastic surgeon, yet for a more cost effective solution, travelling to Ukraine could be the solution.

Preparation for the plastic surgery

A consultation with the surgeon would consist of discussing realistic expectations, and for the patient to describe exactly the body shape they are hoping to achieve. Comprehensive medical history will be taken to ensure there are no health problems that might prevent the procedure, or desired outcome of liposuction. Upon arrival at the clinic, the patient will be required to sign a consent that guarantees awareness of the possible risks. Patients are encouraged to ask as many questions, and consequently gain as much information about the operation as possible. The surgeon will explain what is required of the patient prior to the procedure ie recommendations not to smoke, drink alcohol and take such drugs as aspirin prior to surgery.

Is there a need for hospitalisation?

Usually, this is a procedure that takes place in hospital, yet it does depend on the patient’s general condition of health and scope of the operation. The general duration of a hospital stay is on average 1-2 days. Customizing a weekend tour to Kiev for liposuction consists of our clients choosing to stay at the clinic for 2 nights (usually Saturday-Monday).

How does ultrasonic liposuction work?

The procedure is performed under anaesthetic: general, local or regional (epidural injection). The type of anaesthetic depends on the liposuction technique chosen, together with the volume of area designated for liposuction. The anaesthetic cost is not included in the price for liposuction.

The basic technique of liposuction consists of a small incision (circa 5 mm long) and the surgeon inserting a specialized tube in order to reach the fat. The fat is suctioned out with either a unique syringe, or a vacuum pump. The surgeon will leave a thin layer of fat under the skin, to prevent any rippling effect being formed. The entry wound is then sutured and in some cases, a drainage tube inserted. An alternative method is with the use of a large volume of fluid used to transform the fat to liquid, therefore making the fat more fluid and easier to suction. In addition, ultrasound rays can be used to destroy fat cells and transforms the fat into liquid, which is then extracted by suction with a syringe or pump. This fat may then be ‘re-cycled’ for a lipolifting procedureLiposuction surgeons strongly consider ultrasonic liposuction as one of their preferred liposuction methods.

We are fully aware nowadays of facial fillers being widely used. They possess a multitude of functions which include aiding the levelling of scars, rejuvenating the face by smoothing out wrinkles, and creating newly desired facial features by way of skilled application (chin, cheeks, lips). Naturally, many patients chose to combine liposuction with lipolifting.

Are the any side effects?

Some side effects after liposuction may consist of bruising, swelling, some stinging and numbness. Nerve damage and infection are potential but rare complications. There may be a small amount of unevenness felt at the treated area, which is normal. If liposuction was administered via ultrasound rays, there is the unusual possibility of occasional burns on the skin. Should there be a sudden increase of pain or patients experience bleeding, the surgeon should be contacted immediately for a post-operative consultation.

What does post-operative care consist of?

The surgeon will advise some recommendations for post surgery. These may include:

  • Taking the medication prescribed in a timely manner.
  • To commence walking as soon as possible to prevent blood clots – we can arrange a Kiev walking tour.
  • Administering a cold compress to the effected area to reduce the swelling.
  • Avoiding heavy exercise.
  • To remove sutures on day 7 post the operation at a local surgery at home.

Are liposuction results long term?

Liposuction is not to be treated as a guarantee that weight will not be re-gained. To maintain the newfound shape, we recommend sticking to a sensible diet and exercising regularly.

After the surgery when can I return to normal life?

Each case is treated individually. The majority of patients can return to work the following day after arriving home. We suggest waiting a week before resuming social lives, although it could be sooner. The recovery period is fully dependent upon many factors: age, condition of health and the scope of surgical intervention.

Will liposuction leave any scars?

During the liposuction procedure, the plastic surgeon forms tiny skin incisions (1-1.5 cm). After the recovery period, these are visually unseen.

Are there any risks?

Liposuction complications are possible but extremely rare, with a very few number of patients experiencing any whatsoever. The complications that may occur consist of:

  • Blood vessels expanding with fat globules.
  • Blood vessels becoming obstructed with blood clots.
  • Anaemia potential during heavy volume of fat extraction.

What medical equipment is used for ultrasonic liposuction?

Our clinic partner uses a Söring ultrasonic surgical generator. It is considered one of the renoun pioneers in ultrasonic surgery.

Is ultrasonic liposuction covered by the National Health System?

Generally liposuction is considered as a cosmetic procedure, and consequently is not deemed eligible for NHS treatment.

How It Works

Liposuction surgery is one of our most popular Weekend Surgery Packages. It is usually carried on an outpatient basis either in a doctor’s office operating room, a surgical centre operating theatre or in hospital. Patients may be required to stay in hospital overnight if a large amount of fat is to be removed from the body. The number of medical tour days may differ.

Step 1. Consultation and quotation

  • Send us your request with photographs and a description of your desired correction.
  • Include Skype contact details to enable our doctor to conduct an on-line consultation.
  • Consultation with your doctor. The doctor will contact you and schedule a mutually convenient time for an on-line consultation. This will be free of charge.
  • After a consultation you will be sent a fully comprehensive report, containing a quotation.
  • The quotation will include: the final cost, anaesthetic options and staying arrangements at the clinic. This will also include any necessary consultations with other doctors (physician and anaesthetist), number of nights stay at the clinic, preferred ward type (single or double), compression garments and medication to take home.

Step 2. Lab tests and scans

  • Contact us once you have come to a decision on the treatment. The doctor will provide you with an exact list of medical tests/scans required, assuming that you do not have any contraindications.
  • The tests could be conducted in your home country. However, due to the low cost of tests and consultations in Ukraine, it is worth considering a short visit to Ukraine over a weekend (Saturday – Sunday).
  • Our standard package of 10 medical tests, 5 scans and a doctor’s consultation costs circa £130 in Ukraine.
  • During this visit, you may wish to further enhance your treatment with procedures such as Dental treatmentWellness & SPA or Sightseeing & Leisure – all of which are 60-70% cheaper than in the UK.

Step 3. Reserving a date for treatment

  • When the doctor is fully satisfied with your medical tests result, you will be contacted to make an appointment for your chosen medical procedure.
  • We will require you to transfer 50% of pre-payment to the clinic’s bank account.
  • Upon receipt, the clinic will then be able to reserve a date for the operation, and you will receive pre-operative instructions.

What Other Patients Say

Female secretary, 35: ”I sit all day and every fat cell sank down. It made a world of difference to how I feel about myself. I don’t cringe in front of the mirror anymore.”

Woman jogger, 29: “I’m a perfectionist and my buttocks were the last part I needed to fix up. Running didn’t get it off. The suction did.”

Jessica 23: Thrilled. “At the beginning was hesitating to come to Ukraine. It was new and strange country for me. But the surgeon seemed to be very confident. A friend of mine went to Kiev for dental crowns’ instalment and was amazed by quality of work and the country itself. She advised me Overseas Medical. So, I made by decision and went to Ukraine. I lost 30 pounds. Fortunately I had not damaged my skin elasticity as I’m at my twenties, but I knew I would never be thin, and my buttocks, hips, thighs, and abdomen all had bulges I wished were gone. I had extensive suction lipectomy—on every bulging area…” Read more
