Intrauterine insemination (IUI)

Intrauterine insemination – refers to a common method of assisted reproductive technology.

This method helps to get pregnant with a woman practically without interfering with her body, the procedure is painless and is performed on an outpatient basis.

This procedure consists of the steps:

  • fence sperm male
  • sperm processing in an embryo laboratory
  • introduction to the uterine cavity of sperm

Often intrauterine insemination is combined with stimulation of ovulation (in cases when natural ovulation does not occur), which significantly increases the effectiveness of the procedure.

The subsequent stages of conception, such as the meeting of ready sperm with the egg, fertilization, embryo advancement on the fallopian tube, implantation into the uterine cavity, occur naturally by natural means.

Intrauterine insemination is carried out, usually in 2 stages on the days of planned ovulation.

It is necessary to separate intrauterine insemination and IVF, and each of these methods of assisted reproductive technologies has its own clear indications for conduction.

WHEN APPROPRIATE ARTIFICIAL APPROACHES?
The procedure of intrauterine (artificial) insemination is applied when:

  • infertility of unknown origin;
  • “Cervical factor” of infertility, in the case when spermatozoa lose their mobile characteristics due to thick mucus, passing through the cervical canal;
  • decreased spermogram;
  • forced need to use donor sperm.

INTRAMUTOUS INSEMINATION. WHAT IS THIS FOR THE PROCEDURE?

From your doctor, you can get recommendations to undergo an intrauterine insemination procedure. So what is its essence? It is one of the methods that helps to get pregnant a woman without unnecessary interference into the body.

Intrauterine insemination is carried out on an outpatient basis in three stages. At the first stage, the male sperm is collected, then it is processed in an embryo laboratory. The final step is the introduction of the processed sperm into the uterine cavity. The subsequent stages of conception in a woman occur naturally: a meeting of spermatozoa with an ovum, fertilization, movement of the embryo through the uterine tube, moving into the uterine cavity.

Often experts combine this procedure with ovulation stimulation, for a higher probability of a positive result.

Intrauterine insemination is carried out in 2 stages on the days when ovulation is planned. It is necessary to distinguish this procedure and IVF fertilisation, because each of these auxiliary methods of reproductive technology has its own specific indications for the conduct.
